Charles Humes to Present Free Training in Toledo, Ohio

Free police training—what’s the catch?

“Just because we’re broke,” says Sgt. Charles Humes Jr., “doesn’t make things safer for our officers.” For this reason Humes, a police trainer of international renown, will be presenting a day of free training at the University of Toledo (Ohio), Dec. 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Consider this a gift to law enforcement, from me and the University of Toledo PD,” says Humes.

In other words, there is no catch.

Humes will be presenting his popular Critical Combative Concepts seminar. I had the privilege of attending this course at the 2011 International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) conference, and it’s well worth it. (See my take on it here.)

Humes will cover the mental and physical aspects required to prevail on the streets. The presentation is quick and lively, with plenty of video to drive home points. At ILEETA, the course was standing-room only, so if you’re a police officer in the Toledo area, attend.

Humes says: “Just bring an open mind and an attitude of courtesy and respect for all in attendance.”

The training is at the University of Toledo, Collier Auditorium, Health Science Campus; 3000 Arlington Ave, Toledo, OH 43614. The seminar is a one-day event, scheduled for Wednesday, December 21, 2011, 0800–1600 hrs.
