American University Professor Penning Poetry On Prisons By Karen L. Bune

It might be hard to imagine that a university professor, who has studied prisons extensively and has even met with hardened criminals, could write something other than scholarly, theoretical manuscripts. However, Dr. Robert Johnson, a professor at American University, Washington D. C., in the Department of Justice, Law, and Society and a renowned expert in the field of corrections, has done just that. His poetry books, "Poetic Justice: Reflections on the Big House, the Death house, and the… Continue

H1N1 & First Responders

The World Health Organization has raised "swine flu" to a Stage-6 pandemic. Are Patrol Sergeants and Detective Sergeants the same?

It is my belief that patrol sergeants and detective sergeants are different. Should they be paid the same wages? My Chief has put me to task. He told me to back-up my beliefs with facts. Therefore, I ask you, my brothers and sisters in law enforcement to help prove or dis-prove by departments pay structure whether or not they are paid the same. Please send me details of whether or not your department pays sergeant rank the same or if one division gets higher pay than the other. Please include… Continue
