Yavapai College police chief, wife dead in boating accident

Yavapai College Police Chief Terry Michael Taranto, 58, and his wife, Mary Anne Taranto, drowned Saturday night in Lake Powell after the boat they were in sank while taking on water during a wind storm, said Brian Sweatland, spokesman for the National Park Service.

I am a criminal justice student, I am 35 so I am too old to sit for any of the Police Officer exams, does anyone know if there are ways to get into the CSI unit without being a sworn officer. Please Help. I live in the Syracuse, NY area.
