Being part of a specialized patrol I have limited training but training consists of public relations,
basic first aid, CPR, traffic control, radio
communications, courtroom procedures, ticket writing, legal issues, basic defense training, and other things as it warrants to our duties like recently we have been given the opportunity to do Presidential details. I helped when Romney and Obama came to visit. That was a great detail.
I am a single mom with a fantastic son who is a U.S. Marine and has been in for 3 years now and I am not having such a hard time with it anymore. I am so proud of him. He has high scores in everything he does and is always chosen to be a leader for what ever they do and he received his rank of Corporal the same time I did, that was cool. I live with my mom for financial reason of course.
My full time job is at a call center, I've been there for almost 8 years, I don't like it, but it's a job and I'm glad to have it. I am a senior agent and help the other agents with their calls.
I am part of a specialized patrol with the Parking Enforcement Unit and I love it. It gives you a chance to be part of law enforcement without being a full deputy. We all wish it was full time but it's not in the budget as yet. I patrol all of our county for parking violations, give tickets, help out with traffic incidents, tow vehicles, assist with DUI details (that's always fun, being berated by drunks, lol ) but I always remember that I am a target as well as the deputies and I always wear my vest. (it's a used one and doesn't fit like it should because it's for a male, but it's better than nothing) A friend told me once "it's meant to be comforting not comfortable".
I Love Being in Law Enforcement Because:
I've loved anything about law enforcement all my life and being with this unit has made a dream come true (I wish to be a full deputy one day) to be an officer with the sheriff's and help my community to understand how improtant all aspect of law enforcement is and that the laws are made for our protection and it's not personal
