Hi, I started out as a correctional officer, then a police officer for 12 years and now a detective for over a year. I have spent the past 14 years with the same agency. Law Enforcement as a career for women does make for an easy life but it is a career I love. Looking forward to sharing with other women.....

Hello Ladies. I am a Regional Parole Officer in Arkansas and have been in Law Enforcement for 13 years. I'm also a Firearms Instructor, a Law Enforcement Instructor and a Regional Officer for the Arkansas Narcotics Association.

I've been the only female in most of my stations for most of my 25+ years in LE but, I know what I can do and do it! The memorial services, community outreach, educational material for children, adults and seniors, legislative updates and visits, union steward and labor issues along with being a cop. Most of the guys are good at one, maybe two. Plus I'm the wife of a vietnam veteran with severe PTSD and depression so I do most of the stuff at home, painting, repairs, cooking, cleaning, laundry. But I love my husband and my job and wouldn't trade him or it for the world!

I want to extend a welcome to all the new gals. If you have any questions or comments send them our way and we will do our best to offer an answer or solution. Stay strong and watch your six, ladies.

Good evening. Last night I was butting heads with the new guy once again, he suffers from the illusion of male supremacy, and I came to a conclusion. Of course, if I had figured this one out 16 years ago I would have saved a lot of skin on my knuckles. (I work a bag to relieve frustation and depending on the level sometime I do not use gloves.)

I can not change people's minds, opinions, or short sightedness regarding me. What I can do is work my ass off everyday and become better than I was the day before, because in the end the only person with an opinion of true consequence about me is me. There always has been and always will be one group of people that believes they are superior to another and trying to fit in with them or be accepted by them is a low expectation.

It also helped when this "superior" male could not find the location of the call I was backing him on so I just took care of it. Karma is a beautiful thing.

Just always work to improve who you are to your own satisfaction and the rest will come in time.

Stay safe and watch your six.

Don't feel like your alone. I'm still the only female in the patrol division and yes I'm a supervisor. I'm sure we all have had the same problems. When they try me I stay on their ass and show them just what I realy can do.

Hey everyone! I just found this site and I think I might be in heaven. Some of you are experiencing some issues I've had in the past. I was the fourth female in my deep southern agency. We wore the guys' uniforms and had to pay to get them altered. Some of the guys were always seeing how far they could push me. Things are a little better now. We have 190 deputies and about 20 females.

I am the first and only female Police Officer in the history of my dep. I am blessed working with great guys who always have my back. And who trust me to have theirs. I love it.
