If you go reservist you might be able to get into your own state if the MOS you have has a company there, depends on what you want to do in the Marines, if you want to be active duty then if you are from Cali or NC there is a good chance you will be in your home state. Good Luck!

Good morning my green siblings! I served the Marine Corps from 1984 through 1987. I went to college afterwards and then became a police officer.  After making it through probation I put in for detectives  (CID) and was surprised to be promoted but also very pleased to achieve my goal of becoming a major crimes detective. Fast forward to 2008 and I was forced to take a medical retirement early due to injuries and the horrible symptoms  (I can no longer deny) of PTSD.
Nowadays I mentor younger officers and detectives and occasionally assist anyone,  detective, police officer,  or agency who asks, with criminal investigation,  search warrant development, or anything requested if possible.
I wrote a search warrant affidavit for a small agency a couple hours drive from my house  last week and assisted with serving the warrant after it was signed.  We sended almost 300 pounds of Marijuana and about a half pound of "Shatter."
I look forward to hearing some good war stories,  orMarine Corps stories here!
