Just signing in to this group. Although due to injuries I had to resign as out SWAT commander after eleven years, I'm still interested in current trends. As our agency's principal firearms instructor I also like to hear what other departments are doing. Hope to be able to learn and contribute.

Had a raid today, 04/03 at 6:55 pm. Entry to upstairs apt. by external staircase with a partially enclosed covered porch. Steel door with dead bolt and quality door handle, (not any more). Problem was the ram is three feet and the width to swing was under 4 feet from the door. As the halligan tool man on this deal, I found no immediate use, as there was no screen door. After the ram guy hit the door about four times, I didnt see much movement. I then grabbed the ram along with my bud and away the door went. Flashbang went well. One suspect jumped from window to a lower roof and then hit the ground running. Drug task force team did the running after this one, and was caught. Got some coke and some cash. Would of had more dope if the door hadn't hung us up. Just wasn't room to swing. Had five persons inside including the one that jumped. Thought yous would enjoy a quick story....
