Hello everyone. I have been a diver since my jr. year in high school , let's see that was 1968. Have been a PSD and rec. diver, I like them both but rec is much more fun. Hold Open Water Instr. and Ice Diver Instr certs and taught a few in my time. Was lead on our dive team here in Spokane, WA for 8 years then had to rotate back to patrol. Looking forward to bouncing things off other professionals.

Greetings brothers, I'm a PSD with 10 years exp. in my agency's P/T unit. I hold a NAPD cert and PADI DM. Enjoy work dives because we either close murder cases by locating the weapons, and bring closure to families of lost ones in waterborne accidents, i.e. swimming, scuba, boating, etc.) Look forward to picking up gear ideas, techniques, etc. Be safe/Dive hard.

Hello all, Helping start a dive rescue / recovery team, does anybody have an SOP that they can send? Or Supervisor brief? I am trying to collect information to help start the team , this is for a local VFD. Thanks in advance

Tragedy strikes us when we are least expecting safe at all times

...VIRGINIA - The Washington Post is reporting that a Virginia State Police trooper has died during a deep water training drill.

Trooper Mark D. Barrett was with others making a deep-water dive in a lake approximately 70 miles south of Washington. A trooper ascending to the surface with Barrett noticed he was having problems.

CPR was administered and Barrett was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. An autopsy is expected.

Trooper Barrett, 41 and a three-year member, is survived by his wife and two children.

Started diving in 1979. Worked as a  two member rescue/S&R unit for the city police department where I live in the early 80's.

Now a PADI IDC Staff Instuctor and also teach S&R classes, logged just over 5,000 dives.

Now twenty two years in with the state.  It's amazing how much the equipment has improved over the years. Sold some of old dive gear 10 years ago for vintage and antique on Ebay.

I didn't even see my first BCD until 1984. And my old Nemrod Snark  II reg was just slightly better than trying to breathe out of a water hose. And let's not forget those rock hard Scuba Pro Jet fins. Yes, they have their place but your legs sure get a workout.

Know it's not PSD related but my wife and I have a place in Cozumel, MX. Warm, clear water and lots of beautiful scenery.

I'm the President of the Utah Forensic Divers Association (all LEO's) and am looking for some ideas for a keynote speaker for an annual conference. Any suggestions?
