We are one of a few police and security forces that works for a k-12 school district in PA. Would love to find some school based training for the security guards, preferably free training of course

Do you have any legal issues with "frisking" every day? Is the frisking subsequent to a Metal Detector alert?

I'm assigned to a high school with 750-800 students, in Colorado. I am also the Northern Rep. for Colorado Association of School Resource Officers.

Here in Austin TX, the only school that we have that has a metal detector is the alternative school where the kids go when they get thrown out of general population. The kids get hand frisked everyday as well as the metal detector.

In Philadelphia we run every High School student every day through a metal scan including X-ray for bags, coats. Any of you involved in metal scanning large student populations? We have been doing this for at least 10 years. We bring the operation to Middle Schools either on the Principal's request or reasonable suspicion, i.e., recent gang activity, spike in weapons arrest .

I am a certified SRO and am slowly getting some presentations going at the school where I am now assigned. Benn there 3 times for presentations and about 8 times for lunch with the students, so far so good.
