Comment by Wayne Boos on January 12, 2011 at 1:37am: Just joined the group. Thought I'd put in my 2 cents worth. Here in Wisconsin, most of our vehicle collisions/damage occur when hitting deer. Many times these type of collisions are unavoidable, although there seems to be some officers that hit deer more often than others. Can't hardly bill officers for this. We do annual EVOC training as a Department. I would like to credit this for minimal collisions.

Comment by John Leas on February 3, 2011 at 2:04am: Thanks for the comment, Wayne. I've heard some agencies do bill their officers or deputies for damage as a result of negligent vehicle operation. I'd be interested in seeing how that works out... I agree, those incidents where animals/wildlife runs into your path are a completely different thing - mostly unavoidable.
