I was a certified instructor in DARE and GREAT from 1992 to 1998. I still keep up with the curriculums and supervise our programs in the 3 school districts in Wharton County, Texas.

Good evening, I served as a D.A.R.E. officer from 2000-2003 while with the Grand County Sheriff's Department in Hot Sulphur Springs Colorado. I really enjoyed by time as a D.A.R.E. officer and when I left that agency and moved to Texas I think that was was of the hardest things I had to give up. My kids were great and I enjoyed learning from them as much as they enjoyed learning the D.A.R.E. curriculum. Thanks for this group.

I taught DARE for five years. I left as my hubby was taking over the juvenile unit. It was a bitter-sweet occasion. It is heartwarming today to have these young men and women come up to me and tell me I was their DARE officer. Although our agency no longer has a DARE program, I try to keep up with the latest trends and ideas. Working with children has been the highlight of my career.

Just had my first DARE class for the new school year. Our department raises funds for this in order to keep DARE within our schools. PA has since cut all DARE funding. I simply add it to my normal patrol day or come in for comp time due to the department not wanting to pay OT. I have fun with it and so do the kids.

My father (Sgt Bryce) is the SouthWest Regional Rep from Phoenix PD for G.R.E.A.T. and he loves the program. He travels all over the country hosting training. Did you know PHX PD is where the GREAT program was started?! Cool huh?!

Hello group. I am new to the DARE program. I will be going through the training next week and will start the program next school year, in the fall. Any advice for the rookie? Any help would be appreciated.
