Welcome to this group!! I would love to hear about CIT and mental health response programs from your respective areas. What practices are unique in your area?

Hey folks! Check out It's the official website for CIT International, which is a way for all CIT teams to network. Another good resource is the CIT Center at the University of Memphis. Their website is Good ways to see what other programs are doing, etc!

Hey all! Word on the street is that the 2010 National CIT Conference is going to be held the week of May 29, 2010 in San Antonio, TX. I have no official confirmation of that yet, but when I do I will let you all know!

I just happened onto this site...Allow me to introduce myself....

Im not an active CIT officer, but I was very much a part of developing the current CIT program in our county. I am currently employeed as an S/O lieutenant and volunteer for our county's Mental Health Advisory Board. When it comes to law enforcement and mental health, CIT is a great start, but I think we have much work to accomplish...

Hello there! I am a CIT officer here in Memphis. The CIT program is based from here. It is indeed a great foundation on assisting the mentally ill. I can get you guys any info and/or material that you may need. Just let me know!

Hey guys, I had the honor of being in the first CIT course in my County of NC. It went great, we had about 22 officers from different agencies and municipalities show. It was great. Melanie, what kind of info can you get? Information brochures, packets?

CIT was one of the best training courses I have even taken. It opened my eyes so much to the mentaly ill.

Joining from Melbourne Australia. was in USA/Canada in 06 to look at CIT/PERT & SMART. Now part of trial in Melbourne Australia that is hybrid of all three. (would love to return to CIT conference but boss will not pay!)

Hello to all -
Does anyone have a list or know of **really successful ** CIT programs out there? I'm looking for best practices for my department. I'm especially interested in those programs in mid-sized, urban agencies. I already know about the Memphis model. We are developing a "co-responder" program, because we have mental health professionals that already work conjointly with our department.
Any help appreciated.
