I retired from the Philadelphia Police Dept. & joined the Philadelphia School District in '87 when they transitioned from a security force to a Police Dept. I started as an Investigator and currently hold the rank of Commander, Support Services. Support Services are the Investigation Unit, Fire Safety Marshals, CCTV/Alarm/Communications Unit and Incident Reports Unit. We have 275 schools 165,000 students and 25,000 employees. I will be glad to respond and help any officer who has a question or problem they think I can help with. School policing and Security from the University to Elementary level is probably the most complex, changing law enforcement challenge today.

I currently am the Executive Officer for the Police Academy at KVCC, we are going to a Public Safety Department w/certified and security personnel. I'm anxious to hear about the transitions from just security to Public Safety.

I am Corporal at Brown Unversity Police Dept. Providence R.I. We are an accreditated agency with 40 officers and a support staff of 20 security officers. We were just armed 4 years ago, we are the only campus police officers who are armed in R.I. I love my job as a campus police officer , where else can I meet people from all over the world. 97% of them I love and the rest do need to be taught some manners and get off the entitlemnt wagon. But short of that this is the best law enforcement job in the world that is a perfect fit for me. Angela I also am a RAD Instructor, I love that we can put tools in the tool box of these young students, staff and faculty members making a difference one woman at a time... Being in the heart of a large city is challenging but because of that its always exciting. I look forward to chatting with all of you about the specific challenges of campus law enforcement that we can all share and learn from.

Be well and Be Safe

Virginia Tech has released another updated report on the campus shooting "correcting" some issues reported in the last version. Here's a link to the Washington Post article:
