In-car video systems provide a much broader picture, but a body-worn system might give valuable insight into what a particular officer saw from his own perspective that caused him to react in a certain way. Body worn systems can also go where in-car video systems can't, but in-car video systems can capture the actions of suspects once they've been placed in the patrol vehicle, can automatically collect data such as an offender's speed and have the convenience of being automatically turned on, not having to switch out batteries, wireless transfer or streaming recordings, etc.
